So, if you’re looking for something different to do this summer, check out our Teen Camp!
  • Creative Kids Day Camp

This exciting camp offers children an introduction to the arts throughout the summer through workshops in areas such as visual arts, crafts, dance, and performing arts. No prior experience is required, but interest in the arts is recommended. Participants will enjoy traditional day camp activities such as games, weekly pool days, and fieldtrips. Each camper should bring a morning snack, afternoon snack, sack lunch, and drink daily; and a swimsuit and towel on pool days.
  • Summer Youth Theatre Workshop
    12 – 16 years
Wanna be a musical comedy star? Have ambitions about working backstage? Dream about being a costumer? This exciting program offers theatre curriculum in areas such as costuming, scene design and construction, lighting and audio design, theatrical makeup design and application, and acting techniques.
The summer 2008 performance will be Dear Edwina Junior. Follow the adventures of advice-giver extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple as she directs the kids in the neighborhood in production number after hilarious production in her “Advice-A-Palooza” extravaganza.
Participants are expected to be present 100% of the time in order to prepare for the performance. Participants should bring a sack lunch daily.
  • For Kids Only Summer Camp (A CUSR Program)
    5 – 13 years
Ready for the best camp experience ever? For Kids Only Camp provides a structured environment in which to enjoy productive leisure activities.
Our camp staff is comprised of individuals who have experience working with children of all ability levels. Additional training provides them with the knowledge to help your child be successful in enjoying summer camp. A 1:4 staff-to-camper ratio is maintained as much as possible. Campers take part in gross motor sports and games, arts and crafts, music, swimming, and field trips. Most trips and swim days are included in the camp fee.
  • Camp SPIRIT (A CUSR Program)
    13 – 21 years
Join us at Camp SPIRIT for a full day or half day to enjoy summer while you’re still a teen. Each day offers exciting recreational activities such as sports, arts and crafts, community trips, swimming, and cooking. Outgoing, well-trained therapeutic recreation staff will help challenge and motivate you to be the best you can be. Most trips, special events, and swim days are included in the camp fees.

Registration
The Champaign Park District uses a computer lottery system for day camp registration. CPD residents may begin registering for day camp programs now. All resident walk-in and mail-in registrations will be entered into the lottery. Lottery dates for summer camps are March 24 for residents and March 31 for non-residents. The resident lottery randomly processes all registrations received. Unfortunately, this system cannot guarantee that every person will be placed in their first choice if the camp exceeds the maximum size. If you do not receive your first choice, then you will either be registered in your second choice or put on a waiting list. You will be notified immediately after the lottery is complete if you have not been enrolled in your first choice. After the lottery is complete, additional registrations will be processed as they are received.
Registration Questions? LaEisha Meaderds, 398-2376 or Bresnan Meeting Center, 398-2550
For Camp Spirit and F.K.O. contact Decka at decka.beem@cparkdistrict.com or 239-1152.

Payment Information
Although the cost of attending any Champaign Park District camp is affordable, we understand
that, at times, it is difficult to pay all costs up front. Because of this, we require at least a $10 non-refundable deposit per child per session to hold a spot. The remainder will be due two weeks before camp begins.
During the initial registration, if you sign up for multiple weeks, you will receive a $10 discount on any week after the first week. This also includes siblings. Example: Anna, Bob, and John are siblings and all sign up for 2 weeks of camp. Anna’s first week is $100, but Bob’s and John’s are $90, and all pay $90 for the second week. Camp discounts apply only to Leonhard Day Camp, Teen Camp, and Creative Kids.

Program Scholarships
Because some residents are unable to participate in recreation programs due to economic hardship, the Champaign Park District offers scholarships to reduce certain fees and charges.
Applicants for scholarships are not guaranteed program registration or choice of program location. Early applications are given priority. Scholarship fund availability and program registration cannot be guaranteed.
Scholarship application forms are available at the Bresnan Meeting Center and will be mailed to residents upon request. All requests will remain confidential. A limited amount of funding is available for scholarships. Need is the primary criteria upon which scholarship applicants are considered. All requests will be reviewed and applicants will be notified of the outcome. No camp discounts will be given for families on scholarship. The decision of the Park District will be final.

Child Care Resource Service (CCRS)
Child Care Resource Service helps income-eligible parents who are working and/or going to school to pay for their child care.
Eligibility is based on family size and parents’ income. Working families whose incomes are at or below 50% of the state median income level may be eligible.
Processing the application can take up to 10 business days, once all the necessary information is received. Please pick up an application form from CCRS.
CCRS approved families may register for summer camps by paying a $10 deposit per child/per session of camp. These deposits may be refunded at the end of the summer once all CCRS checks are received and there is a credit balance. If money is still owed on your account once CCRS checks have been applied, you will be responsible for the rest of the bill. Because the Park District does not receive payment from CCRS until one month after the service was provided, your deposit could be refunded as late as October.
Questions: Child Care Resource Service, 333-3252 or 1-800-325-5516
