World Percussion
A group class designed to introduce students to different rhythms and percussion instruments from around the world. In this hands-on class you will experience a variety of instruments and playing techniques. You will also gain an understanding of how these instruments started, where they came from, and how they are used today not only in other cultures, but in America as well. No prior experience necessary.
Individual Drum Lessons
One-on-one private drum lessons designed for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. All styles including rock, jazz, funk, Latin and blues are taught. Lessons are 30 minutes in length.
Piano
- Piano Prep -
Are you thinking about piano lessons for your child but aren't sure if
they are ready? In a stimulating musical environment, your child will
sing, dance and play their waytowards developing the skills that are
fundamental to beginning piano lessons with enjoyment and ease.
Activities will focus on games that assist children in developing
musically and that encourage alove of music.
- Beginning Piano - These classes will excite brand new beginners and help them discover
what piano playing is all about. In a fun, relaxed setting, students
will participate in lessons designed to develop their creative skills
at the piano and build the ability to play a variety of music with
ease. Students must have a piano or keyboard available for practice.
Classes offered through Champaign School of Music
- Piano Kids - A group class that will help beginners to discover what playing piano is all about. In a fun, relaxed setting, students will participate in lessons designed to develop their creative skills at the piano and build the ability to play a variety of music with ease. Students must have a piano or keyboard to for practice.
- Guitar Kids - A beginning guitar class where students will learn the basics and end with playoffs. Students learn how to play popular chord progressions and tunes from their favorite music. Students must bring a guitar to class.
- Beginning Adult Voice - Designed to help you learn how to get the best from your voice. This class will help you learn and continue to refine your basic vocal technique as well as sing songs of your choice. No experience is necessary.
- Beginning Adult Guitar - Will help you learn good technique, chord progressions, melody lines, and songs that you help choose. No experience necessary.
- Beginning Adult Violin - Will teach you basic playing techniques, note reading, expressiveness and ensemble playing skills. No experience necessary.
CONCERTS
- Bach's Lunch -
Savor the harmonious
atmosphere of the Bach’s Lunch Concert Series. Over the lunch hour
(from noon-1pm), performances featuring classical, jazz, and world
music transpire in the Historical Lobby of the Springer Cultural
Center. Bring your own lunch.
